Movetober Tip #2 – Do it in the morning

If you have kids, and they sleep till ~7am in the morning, and you have a spouse/partner who leaves home after the kids have woken up … OR

If you don’t have kids …

Then the best time of day to MOVE is in the morning.

I have lost count of the number of times I have turned off the alarm clock and gone back to sleep thinking “I will do it this afternoon”. And then, for the whole day, I have this “THING” hanging over my head that I have to do in the afternoon.

After a full on day at work – while I have to admit the best thing I could do for my self and my mind is to head off and MOVE – it is the last thing I want to do.

So where possible, I suggest doing your thing in the morning. The longer you leave it over the course of the day, the more likely it is that you will be able to find a perfectly valid excuse NOT to do your thing!

And remember, there’s no excuses in Movetober! The challenge involves you doing your MOVE thing each and every day :)

And of course – this is just a tip. If you are a total afternoon MOVEr and have no dramas getting out and about at that time of day, totally ignore this tip!

  1. I so wish I had some of those “ifs” back in my life – maybe not the one where I had no kids, but the one where a partner was around beyond 6.20am would be nice. I love to MOVE in the morning, and used to all the time in life BC, but can’t seem to get it done ANYTIME now unless it eats into work time.

    I even wish the house didn’t shake, so I could do a yoga workout in the morning before the munchkin wakes, but it seems that as soon as I am up, so is he – so I don’t get up! Or maybe that’s just my excuse…
